A Miami Classic Returns: Inside the New Hereford Grill

There is something exciting about seeing a longtime Miami restaurant begin a new chapter, especially when it manages to remember where it came from while giving diners something entirely new to discover.

Hereford Grill is one of those places.

After building a following in Miami for 25 years, the steakhouse has returned to its familiar Le Jeune Road home with a refreshed look, a new culinary direction and plenty of reasons to linger around the table. Now led by Erasmo Da Silva and Da Silva Hospitality Group, Hereford Grill feels less like a revival and more like a thoughtful reintroduction of a restaurant many South Floridians already know.

And, naturally, the steaks are at the heart of it all.

Hereford Grill places a strong emphasis on responsibly sourced meats and the unmistakable flavor that comes from cooking with fire. Its Butcher’s Table features premium cuts prepared over wood and charcoal, including American Wagyu selections from Snake River Farms, meats from Niman Ranch, grass-fed Boneless Rib Eye and Angus Rib Eye Cap. Bone-in specials such as Porterhouse and Tomahawk Cowboy steaks add a little drama to the table, and this is, after all, a steakhouse. A little drama is welcome.

“At Hereford Grill, we serve only the finest, responsibly sourced cuts of steak and prime meats—carefully selected for quality, traceability, and sustainability,” Da Silva says. “Every piece on our wood-fire grill reflects our commitment to authentic, flavorful steakhouse dining.”

The team also looked internationally while developing this new chapter, consulting with Argentina’s Michelin Guide-recognized Corte Comedor on grilling and meat expertise. The influence complements Hereford Grill rather than defining it. This is still very much a Miami restaurant, with a menu that moves comfortably between cultures and flavors.

That may be one of the most appealing things about it.

There is Lobster Mac ’n’ Cheese alongside Grilled Branzino and Potato Gnocchi, but also familiar favorites including Mixed Arepas, Short Rib Croquettes with Romesco sauce and Tequeños accompanied by papelón and passion fruit. Chorizos and morcillas are made in-house, while the tableside Caesar Salad brings back the kind of dining-room presentation that can make dinner feel like an occasion.

Dessert shouldn’t be skipped, either. The house-made selections include Basque Cheesecake, Tres Leches Cake and Flambéed Pancakes with Dulce de Leche, the latter sounding particularly difficult to resist after a steak dinner.

Wine is equally important to the experience. Remarkably, Hereford Grill earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence within just two months of opening, recognition of a wine program designed to complement those rich, fire-grilled flavors.

The restaurant itself has also received a refresh. Its original address now houses a 144-seat indoor-outdoor space with a greenery-framed bar and an atmosphere that feels polished while remaining comfortable. An upstairs private dining area accommodates up to 95 guests, making the restaurant an option for everything from business gatherings to celebrations.

But Hereford Grill also seems interested in becoming part of its guests’ regular routines rather than saving itself solely for special occasions.

Weekly experiences include Happy Hour, half-priced cocktails and spirits on Tuesdays, discounted select wines during Un-wind Wednesdays and the music-focused Sounds of Thursday. Saturday’s Butcher’s Menu for Two turns the steakhouse experience into an easy date-night choice, combining the tableside Caesar with premium cuts, sides and Tres Leches Cake to finish.

For a city that is constantly introducing the next new restaurant, there is something rather lovely about welcoming an old name back.

Hereford Grill doesn’t need to forget its past to feel current. Instead, its return combines the familiarity of a Miami institution with the way many of us want to dine now: quality ingredients, responsible sourcing, international flavors, a beautiful setting and food that makes gathering around a table feel worthwhile.

After 25 years of history, the fire at Hereford Grill is burning again.

And this time, there is a whole new Miami waiting to pull up a chair.
