For our 18th wedding anniversary, my husband, Sebastian, and I escaped to Waldorf Astoria Orlando, where luxury revealed itself not only through grand surroundings, but through personal gestures that made us feel genuinely celebrated.
The moment we entered our accommodations, we realized the staff had created something special for us. Flowers were delicately and thoughtfully arranged throughout the bedroom and living area, bringing romance into every corner of the space. A bottle of champagne waited to be opened, while bath bombs beside the soaking tub offered an irresistible invitation to relax. After a year filled with change, teaching, writing deadlines and the everyday responsibilities that can follow a couple even on vacation, the idea of sinking into a warm bath and letting the stress disappear felt like its own form of luxury.
It was all beautiful, but it was the thought behind each detail that stayed with me. The flowers were not simply decorations. The champagne was more than a welcome amenity. Together, they told us that this weekend mattered and that the people caring for us understood why we had come.
A Reimagined Orlando Landmark
Waldorf Astoria Orlando opened in 2009 and recently completed its most extensive transformation to date. The property-wide reimagination included its guestrooms and suites, lobby arrival experience, acclaimed restaurants, spa and 18-hole golf course.
The redesign draws inspiration from the natural landscape of Bonnet Creek, incorporating shades of taupe, linen and soft green alongside organic textures and artwork. The result is elegant without feeling formal or unapproachable. There is a sense of calm throughout the hotel, even though the excitement of Walt Disney World Resort is only minutes away.
The lobby’s marble details and airy palette frame the Waldorf Astoria clock, an unmistakable connection to the brand’s celebrated New York heritage. Nearby, the newly designed Peacock Alley offers its own interpretation of modern glamour. Its “Organic Deco” style takes inspiration from the movement and colors of peacock feathers while introducing a contemporary nod to Art Deco.
As an Official Walt Disney World Hotel, Waldorf Astoria Orlando also provides complimentary transportation to the four Disney theme parks and Disney Springs, along with 30-minute early theme-park entry for eligible guests. It creates a rare balance: couples and families can enjoy the energy of the parks during the day and return to an environment that feels peaceful, polished and wonderfully removed from the crowds.
Suites Designed for Staying In
The hotel’s suites are not simply larger rooms; they are carefully designed retreats that make lingering inside feel like part of the itinerary.
Deluxe Suites offer approximately 945 square feet, with a separate living room, a dining area for four, an executive wet bar and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Bedrooms are available with one king or two queen beds dressed in premium Frette linens, while the living room includes a queen-size sleeper sofa. These suites work equally well for couples seeking additional privacy and families who want room to spread out.
For an even more expansive stay, the corner Luxury Suites offer approximately 1,460 square feet and impressive views of the Waldorf Astoria Golf Course or Bonnet Creek Nature Preserve. Each includes a king bedroom, separate living room, dining space for four and a furnished walkout balcony. The Italian marble bathroom becomes an experience of its own, with a dual vanity, glass-enclosed shower, separate soaking tub and Aesop bath amenities. Plush robes, slippers, evening turndown service, a Nespresso machine and a thoughtfully stocked wet bar complete the sense of being cared for.
The Waldorf Suite elevates the experience further with approximately 1,780 square feet of living space. The one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath corner suite includes an executive kitchenette, breakfast bar, separate powder room and panoramic views from its furnished terrace balcony. It feels residential yet indulgent—the type of suite in which champagne can be poured in the living room before dinner and breakfast enjoyed slowly the following morning.
For us, the room became more than somewhere to sleep between activities. It was part of the celebration. We could open the champagne, admire the flowers, settle into the softness of the space and simply enjoy being together.
An Evening at Bull & Bear
A romantic stay at Waldorf Astoria Orlando should include dinner at Bull & Bear, the resort’s signature restaurant and one of Orlando’s most celebrated fine-dining destinations.
Inspired by the original Bull & Bear in New York, the restaurant blends the atmosphere of a private club with views of the pool, golf course and surrounding grounds. Its reputation is built not only on its cuisine, but also on polished service, tableside presentations and a team of sommeliers prepared to recommend pairings from the restaurant’s wine program.
The menu reimagines the familiar language of a classic steakhouse. Among its best-known selections is Pasta Explosion, an inventive dish that has developed a following of its own. The restaurant’s fried chicken is another unexpected signature, proving that comfort food can become part of a sophisticated culinary experience when prepared with precision.
Couples celebrating an anniversary may be drawn to the Chateaubriand for Two, a centerpiece designed to be shared. The menu also includes elevated steakhouse fare and carefully composed accompaniments, with tableside preparation adding a sense of theater to the evening. Dessert should not be treated as an afterthought. Bull & Bear is known for imaginative finales such as The Lemon, the brightly flavored Ring of Yuzu and the decadent Chocolate Bar. Each selection brings a playful visual element to the table while maintaining the elegance of the overall experience.
Bull & Bear is open nightly from 6 to 10 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged, and guests should plan to dress for the restaurant’s sophisticated atmosphere. Shorts, hats, flip-flops and athletic clothing are not permitted.
For a pre-dinner cocktail or a final toast afterward, Peacock Alley is an effortless companion to the restaurant. The elegant lobby lounge offers handcrafted cocktails and elevated small plates in a setting that encourages couples to stay for one more drink. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with closing time subject to guest volume.
Breakfast, Poolside Dining and More
The dining experience continues the following morning at Oscar’s Brasserie. Its breakfast buffet features made-to-order omelets and crêpes, charcuterie, fresh Florida fruit and cold-pressed juices. Guests can also enjoy modern interpretations of classic American breakfast dishes, including Eggs Benedict—a fitting connection to the original Waldorf Astoria in New York, where the iconic dish has long been associated with the hotel’s culinary history.
For a quicker morning, Park Avenue Café serves freshly baked house-made croissants, breakfast sandwiches and La Colombe coffee. Its rotating pastry selection may include flavors such as strawberry and caramelized pecan, making it an inviting stop before a spa appointment or theme-park departure.
During an afternoon beside the pool, Aquamarine pairs handcrafted cocktails with coastal-inspired cuisine. Guests of Waldorf Astoria Orlando also have access to the neighboring Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek’s pool complex, including its lazy river and water slide. Private cabanas provide an elevated way to spend the day without rushing anywhere at all.
Additional dining choices across the two connected properties include La Luce, known for handmade pasta, Neapolitan pizza and modern Italian cuisine, and Zeta Asia, which combines Asian culinary traditions with Western techniques, creative mixology, sake and Japanese whisky.
A Spa Experience Centered on Renewal
The Waldorf Astoria Spa extends the hotel’s philosophy of individualized care. Its treatment menu includes massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, salon services, Himalayan salt therapies and Normatec leg-recovery sessions. Several treatments incorporate Tupelo honey, a locally sourced signature ingredient used in personalized skin therapies.
The Himalayan Salt Room provides a quiet setting for halotherapy, while the Salt Solace room allows guests to combine a customized massage with a salt-inhalation experience. For couples, the Isle of Serenity treatment room features specialized Lemi Spa Dream tables using color therapy, heated water mattresses and quartz-like sand to envelop the body during the Sand & Sea treatment.
Even without a scheduled spa appointment, the bath bomb waiting inside our suite carried that restorative spirit into our private space. They encouraged us to put away our phones, stop watching the clock and allow ourselves to be still. The spa is currently open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., although hours may change. Florida residents can receive 20 percent off eligible spa services Monday through Thursday, subject to availability, blackout dates and other conditions. A 21 percent service charge is added to spa services.
The Perfect Anniversary Itinerary
An ideal romantic weekend begins with an unhurried afternoon arrival. After checking in, take time to explore the suite rather than immediately leaving it. Open the champagne, step onto the balcony and enjoy the view before changing for the evening.
Begin dinner with a cocktail at Peacock Alley, followed by a reservation at Bull & Bear. Order something to share, allow the sommelier to recommend a wine and save room for one of the restaurant’s theatrical desserts. After dinner, return to Peacock Alley for a nightcap or retreat to the suite for a warm bath and a quiet evening together.
The next morning, enjoy the buffet at Oscar’s Brasserie before spending several hours at the Waldorf Astoria Spa. Follow the treatment with lunch beside the pool, then settle into a private cabana or float along the neighboring lazy river.
Couples who want a touch of Disney magic can reserve the following morning for a theme park, taking advantage of early entry and hotel transportation. Those who prefer a slower pace can enjoy the golf course, another spa experience or breakfast through in-room dining, continuing a Waldorf Astoria tradition: the original hotel was the first in the world to introduce room service.
The Luxury of Feeling Seen
What I will remember most about our anniversary weekend is how the hotel made Sebastian and me feel.
Grand spaces and beautiful suites matter, but true hospitality is emotional. It is found in the flowers someone took the time to place around a room. It is in the champagne waiting to mark 18 years of marriage. It is in the bath bombs offered to two people who needed permission to step away from the world and breathe.
Waldorf Astoria Orlando gave us elegance, exceptional dining and a peaceful escape surrounded by the magic of Orlando. More importantly, it reminded us that after 18 years, celebrating our story still matters.
Sometimes romance arrives through a grand dinner or a gorgeous suite. Sometimes it is found in a flower delicately placed beside the bed, waiting for you to notice.
