Some afternoons remind you that dining out is about much more than what arrives on the plate. It is about the welcome, the laughter, the colorful cocktails and those thoughtful moments that make you feel genuinely appreciated. Sebastian and I recently experienced all of that—and an incredible feast—at RA Sushi in Plantation Walk.
Located in the heart of Plantation Walk’s lively open-air entertainment district, RA Sushi immediately feels energetic and fun. Its bold décor, upbeat atmosphere and inviting patio make it equally suited for an afternoon date, happy hour with friends or a meal that simply calls for sushi and a celebratory drink.
From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. We were welcomed with warmth and treated with such care throughout the afternoon that every course felt like part of a celebration. The team made sure we were comfortable, offered thoughtful recommendations and created the kind of relaxed experience that allowed us to slow down and truly enjoy our time together.
Naturally, we began with cocktails. Sebastian absolutely loved the Hennessy Martini, a smooth and sophisticated choice that quickly became one of his favorite parts of the afternoon. I happily stayed with a classic margarita, a bright, refreshing and exactly what I wanted as we admired the beautiful spread beginning to fill our table. And what a spread it was.
RA Sushi’s menu is designed for sharing, which makes the experience even more fun. The restaurant offers everything from traditional nigiri and sashimi to colorful signature rolls, crispy appetizers and creative Japanese-inspired entrées. Our table soon became a gorgeous parade of sushi, sauces, textures and flavors, with every plate inviting us to try just one more bite.
For guests who love starting with something playful, the menu includes Pork Gyoza served with ponzu sauce, Garlic Edamame tossed in Asian garlic sauce and the irresistible “RA” “RA” Shrimp, which offers tempura shrimp coated in chili mayo and finished with green onions and red bell peppers. Other tempting shareables include Spicy Crispy Rice topped with tuna, yellowtail and salmon, along with Lobster Inferno for those who enjoy a little extra heat.
The sushi remains the star of the show. RA is known for its signature Viva Las Vegas Roll, but the menu also gives diners plenty of opportunities to mix familiar favorites with something a little more adventurous. Between the fresh sashimi, beautifully arranged nigiri and generous selection of rolls, the table itself became part of the experience. Every plate was colorful, carefully presented and made for sharing, although there were definitely a few favorite pieces Sebastian and I each wanted to claim for ourselves.
There is also much more than sushi. Guests can explore ramen, fried rice, hibachi-inspired entrées, salads, Wagyu selections and desserts, making RA a great choice even when everyone at the table is craving something different. The generous happy hour menu adds another reason to visit, with select bites, sushi and cocktails offered at approachable $3, $6 and $9 price points.
By the end of our meal, Sebastian and I were full, happy and incredibly thankful. The food was delicious and the cocktails certainly added to the fun, but what stayed with us most was the kindness behind the experience. Wonderful hospitality has a way of transforming an afternoon meal into a memory, and the team at RA Sushi made us feel genuinely welcomed from beginning to end.
